schmoron13
This is a continuation from my post here In any case, since that vray problem was fixed, I figured I'd let the rest of you rip it apart ERR critique it. Be gentle, but I WANT TO IMPROVE so destroy away -doron
schmoron13
I just noticed that I forgot to render the curtain seen in the reflection...as soon as I have a chance, i'll add it up here
mauarduz
Its really hard to determine what is that blue thing on the floor. anyway, i suggest you turn everything white, by assigning all objects a generic white vray material, and render with different settings untill you get a lighting result that is satisfactory, later add maps one by one and learn how they affect the whole image gradually
schmoron13
I did a bunch of changes, and finally figured out how to use interior lighting...somewhat. Anyways, here's the latest one, rendered in 3ds max (with vray free) and lightly touched up in photoshop. wada y'all think? http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=Snapdragonbathroom23-vraymat.jpg -doron

supaslims
Howdy, Glad to see you got rid of the bath mat, it was ditracting the way it was, I think you should keep at it though. One thing which is bothering me is the height of the ceiling, or maybe its the scale of the vanity unit but if you imagine someone wasing their hands at the sink they would be a giant! just doesnt seem right. schmoron13
thanks for the info supaslims. I didn't even think about that. I just went and measured the counter and the counter top is 3'4" which I assume isn't unreasonable, but then I realized that the sink is ABOVE that so someone washing their hands would have to reach 3'10" just to put their hands in there...I need to go fix that. As for the ceiling, it's 8' which I would reckon is standard in California. as far as lighting and mood, what do you think?
mauarduz
good improvement, congrats, those spots on the ceiling might need higher a higher quality >HSP subdivisions
schmoron13
Originally posted by mauarduz: good improvement, congrats, those spots on the ceiling might need higher a higher quality >HSP subdivisionsI'm a little confused. what do you mean that the spots on the ceiling might need a higher quality? do I do that in the material editor, or is that in vray (have HSph subdiv set to 50 and Interp samples set to 30). as for the secondary bounces, I did a quick test render at .7 instead of .5 and you're right, the picture came to life. I have a background from the total textures cd of a red sunset, but it's not coming through. I turned off vray's environment override, but if i have a spot coming in, simulating the sunset as well, how can I show both? I'm going for a lazy afternoon feel in say june. Ricardo Eloy
Great improvements going on here, huh? Congrats! The only thing, already mentioned here, is the lack of contrast. Maybe, besides changing some VRay settings, you could change the light position so that it can cast more shadows. You know, we see it on the floor, but it's hard to tell where it's coming from exactly because it's not casting expressive shadows. Maybe you could open those blinds, make the light touch the tub... Keep us updated! [] Rick
