The_architect06
hello everyone.. am trying to make a curtain that doesn't block all the sun rays , my problem is that am using a 2 sided material i set the refraction to maximum but it still blocks all the sun rays ...i know one way around this where i can set an opacity map but with the bump i have this is taking ages to render..is there any other way around this ?? PS: i also have this problem ( light being blocked) with glass so i render my interiors without glass windows
Ricardo Eloy
Have you tried the "affect shadows" option on the VRay material?
CookiE
You can go to the object properties and tell it not to make and receive shadows to allow like to pass completely through glass but not sure the best way for curtains
mtb0506
hey if you check out the thread for VRAY ELITE posted on the home page, there is a tutorial for 2 sided materials, may help
jkletzien
Rick's right- though if you're not using a VRay light which you need for transparent shadows to work....the old school way is: halve the multiplier on your sun, now copy it on top of itself - so you have two suns - but have one exclude the curtains from casting shadows while the other one allows the curtain to cast shadows. It isn't perfect, but it does a pretty nice job. In case you were wondering, the multipliers can be added (ie. 2 lights at .7 ea equal one light at 1.4)
