RyanSpaulding
How do you set your Max to use Real World Units on file import (or in general)? I'm going to be doing a lot of DWG linking and everything I have is done in feet and inches. I tried looking online but cant seem to find it anywhere. Any help is appreciated. Justin Hunt
Customize > Preferences > units , you can set the display units to inches there, I think Max is in Inches by default, also check the System Units Setup, which is also Inches by default. There is also an option to rescale when linking files. JHV
Ricardo Eloy
The important thing, no matter which units you work with, is to have "the world" set propperly. Set System Units to 1 unit = 1 inch if you're doing stuff in inches, feet, etc OR 1 unit = 0.025 meters if you plan on working metric. They mean the exact same thing, but for metric speakers such as myself, the 1 inch = 2,54 cm is just annoying and doesn't help much. Another thing is to never work in generic units, because when you import DWG files and tell max to rescale them, you'll get a huge mess if you don't work with a real display unit. Koper
Ryan, also take note when you have set up the correct units that each time you start max it should be correct to what you have set it up to, but if you reset max, not restart, but reset max, it changes back to the generic units and need to change it again.
