frank1331
I need to show a stadium full of people. What is the best way to show it both as a still image and then later as an animation?
mr. a
Yes! PLEASE! I have the same issues........on a slightly related issue- I am also in need of mannequins for retail projects. Would be great if there was a plug-in or different program that allowed one to make a mannequin and customize the attire to fit the store theme. What to fashion designers use these days? There has to be some sort of digital alternative out there- if not, someone with those skills needs to get to work! Back to the original post- it would be great if you could then create seated models of people with varying quality levels to fill up scenes. As we all know there is a limitation with RPCs- (that's not to say I do not use them at all).

Crazy Homeless Guy
....maybe research what George Luca did for Star Wars episode 1. they needed grandstands with people in cheering on the race. the painted the ends of Q-tips, and built a scale model, and used a hair dryer underneath to create the crowd cheering effect. you could probably come up with something similar for a CG enviroment. Claudio Branch
I have the same problem... I am thinking about using a particle system and the stands as the emitter. Using Faces as the particle shape and perhaps 10 different "people materials." I'm not sure how I'm going to get them to do the wave though... ...maybe RealFlow! afterglow
the way i did it last time which worked a treat, was to get a row of those applauding rpc's, about 7 or 8, render out from front view to a sequence and map the sequence (incl. aplha to opacity) to a long polygon. do a few variations/combos of the people and place them around the seating rows. that way u get a row of 8 or 10 applauding people to one long polygon... looks really good.
