Thiago de Andrade
Hi guys. I'd love to hear your CC's on this one. Done for a client of ours. I intend to improve the scene with more objects and curtains. This was a rush job, 4 days doing the design, modeling and rendering. The client loved the design, btw, but I intend to increase the size to a suitable A3 print, and render with a better sampling. Mental Ray and Max8 Hope to hear from you, Thiago
jtroupe
I don't think that I have ever seen a Barcelona Chair quite like that. It is way too long and skinny. Also, the couch in the second image looks way too deep. You might want to check your camera settings. You probably have larger than a 35mm to get all of the room in, but you don't want to skew your interior too much.

The leather on the Eames chair looks like plastic. I like the room composition but the perspective is not the best. I would work on the angle you are shooting it from. Ricardo Eloy
Well, besides the fact it is a rush job, the distortion is really not helping, Thiago. This looks like more than 90 degrees, and even though your space is tight, you shouldn't adopt this solution. Instead, turn one of the walls invisible to the camera and move you view to the back until you get the view you need. Also, be careful with some of the lights. They look way too strong, leaving an undesirable mark on the floor.
mfured20
yeah, the perspective angle doesn't really work for these, its too distorted. also, watch your reflection glossiness.. it looks a little splotchy. but i like the design of the space. good luck. eksg
Its good that your boss has given you 4 days to do the job,my boss would kill me if it would take me two days to do it.hehe, kiddin asides. anyway, thiago,i dont want to comment on your rendering coz im not a MR user,(execept for that very bright light on the flooring on ur dining scene)i would like to point out some architectural issues.dont think of me as your juror in your thesis, wehehe, but think of my as your classmate.all of us are learning here, that's the primary reason why were here. here i go: 1.are those cfl downlights?if they are, you'll be having a very bright room,if they are halogen downlights, you're scene should be more yellowish. 2.put light casting on walls, you'll have the drama. 3.youre dining is definitely bigger thatn your living area,is that what the client wants? 4.are those marble flooring?or porcelain tile?either, you should try showing the grout connections,it would add up to the realism and would look interesting. 5.you're console in the dining doesnt belong there. 6.dont put square brown ceramic tiles on ur dining,(well...this one is just a design suggestion).if ever youll have the time, look for catalouges.you'll be amazed that theres a million type of tile a lot better than that one. i still got a few more comments, but u can get away with it.sorry for these things,im more of a designer than a 3d renderer,so i have a lot of things to comment in terms of design.there's a lot of interesting things you can add up to ur design, but you said that you're clients love it,so i wont add up anymore.just keep it up dude!stay cool and be cool.ciao!!! Thiago de Andrade
Thank you all guys! I definitelly need to improve my camera skills, I always followed the professional photographers tip: to take pictures of interiors with a 18mm lens! I guess I need to pass on this one and do as Rick said, to put the camera outside the room. I rarely do this, just because of a silly "purism" of mine. - The Barcelona model is perfect, the angle did the job of distorting its perfect proportions. - I'm not very fond of light cast on the walls neither washing them. - The marble flooring has the grout, but they are huge pieces (1,8mx0,6m) and the grout is supposed to be so thin that they should not appear by farther views. - The dining room isn't bigger than the living, perhaps its the camera angle and distortion that gave you that impression, EKSG. They have very different shapes though, the dining is closer to a square, and the living obviously much closer to a rectangle. - The ceramic on the dining wall is, in reality, much better than in the rendering, it has very thin white stripes and a "glassy" covering so it reflects a lot. - I aggree with the console, though, it doens't seem right on the composition, will go for another design. Thank you all again, Thiago
