MesaPrs
I'm trying to set up a few different viewport images in my orthographic views to use as templates for the model I'm going to build, but hitting some problems while trying to adjust the image... I assign the viewport images in the "Viewport Background" menu, adjust my zoom and pan in the front viewport to line the model (a reference 12' high wall to match the 12' high wall in the image) up with the background image. I then go back to the "Viewport Background" menu, check "Match bitmap" and "Lock Zoom/Pan" to lock the image in place while I work on the model ... but then Viz then automatically repositions the background image, throwing off the alignment so I can't line up my top and side views. Is there something I'm missing here? I'd ideally want to be able to adjust the position/size of each viewport image individually or find some other way to set up background templates on each view but I'm not seeing any other options. Thanks for any help! John
MesaPrs
Hey sorry folks, that was one big run-on sentence! In other words, is it possible to manually adjust the placement/size of a viewport image in Viz?
Tim Saunders
I have never used the options you have mentioned. I am sure there is a way to get it to work by using some of the features you mentioned, but if your in a time crunch, just create a camera. To make sure it is straight up and down, create a rectangle or line from a front or side view. then when your creating the camera, snap from the top to the bottom. Re-position the camera to where you need it. Now load your image as an environment map, copy it into a material slot and hit instance. Now in your camera's view you can adjust the size and position of the image in the offset and size values in the material editor-bitmap coordinates. This is all assuming you check "display background" in the viewport image dialogue box.
MesaPrs
Hey thanks Tim! That's a much more effective way of doing it.
