Jorbu
Here's a couple of test with Vray for Sketchup Beta. I still have to work on the glass setting and figure out opacity mapping with some components. Opacity does work, but for some components from the formfonts website I'm still trying to figure it out. Overall it's a great integration and it was incredible potential. ASGVIS has done an incredible job.
jophus14
I am super excited about Vray for SketchUp, but Podium works great too and it's only $199.
Jorbu
I gave podium a quick try and didn't like the fact that you had to expolde your model for it to work. I'm not sure if that's changed or not yet.
AJLynn
Good stuff. Photoshop the levels.
Jorbu
A couple of more images testing this beta release. Mostly playing around with the glass material.
jophus14
Even when importing a SketchUp model in MAX/VIZ and rendering with Vray, the SketchUp model is ridiculously saturated. I hope this is something that can be controlled without using Linear and the Vray frame buffer or Photoshop.
AJLynn
Sometimes with the imported model you get an ambient light added, which screws everything up - make the Ambient swatch under Environment in Max full black to fix this. I haven't used Vray for Sketchup so I can't comment on how this all works with that, but if you take these renders and use Photoshop Levels to drop the midpoint (gamma correct) and slightly compress the high and low inputs (adds some contrast) it makes a big difference. Actually, there's a color space issue going on too - they look different in Photoshop on my Mac vs in Firefox, and I think the Photoshop version must be closer to what Jorge is going for. The only part that doesn't work for me is the closest car in Mercedes1.jpg - it's too bright to correct. Is it too close to white for Vray to handle correctly? Also, there's a bright spot under the entry canopy that might be a GI error.
