Koper
Ok, I have just found, probably one of the most interesting sites EVER!!!! the pixar graphix site where they show how they do their stuff, it is UNBELEIVABLE!!! really, it is!! http://graphics.pixar.com/ Check out the movie under this heading and you'll understand Lpics: a Hybrid Hardware-Accelerated Relighting Engine for Computer Cinematography I wish I could have put this on the Christmas list for the Viz insider (hint hint) Tonight I will cry myself to sleep

Koper
havent even got that far yet, still watching and reading ---- I wonder if that is how they did 'Wallece & Gromit' ? Somebody told me they used real clay
Brian Smith
Don't look to me to expand on this stuff...i'm still trying to figure out what they mean when they say... The method makes use of separable recursive filters to create efficient large-kernel convolutions. The individual recursive filters are derived from a minimum principle that produces spatially varying coefficients in the course of solving a tri-diagonal linear system. Excuse me? That's part of the algorithm for the interactive DOF engine. They're saying that the recursive filters compartmentalize the computation by rough regions of the objects in space. Once you have that information any changes you make are much faster.

Thanx for trying there Brian, but as I said, I'ts Higher Grade for most of us. I know one can do this (from max) by rendering out elements to combustion in .cws format, then you have the 3d scene in a realtime video light editor. This will incorporate the scanline renderer, I'm not sure about other 3dr party renderers.
Brian Smith
Oh yeah, that explains it
Koper
Brian, sorry if that were not clear. Here is a link to what I'm talking about, its the one called 'Combustion Workflow'.you might want to skip to round about 33 min or so, as I think you already know everything before that. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=5665905 I am also posting this link in a new thread and will ask the moderators to maybe make it a sticky as this is probably one of the best demonstration videos and will awnser allot of questions. Now I am only looking for Job were I can do this
