fabmedia
I was commissioned to create a 3D model from line drawings. I'm just wondering what you think. I am going to texture it and create a scene for it but this is just a start. There's 37, 323 polygons. Honest feedback only. LW 7.5. Ras
Hi Arlen It´s very nice (this means that it IS VERY NICE in danish. Danes have difficulties expressing emotions ) I´m sure everything will be just right in the final renderings. For now the only critique I´d have of the top of my head is that the posts and some other details at the base are a litlle to "clean" geometry wise. The rest of the house looks like it´ll be really wonderful with textures and background but these posts sort of say: extrusion with sphere on top - give them a few chips and dents and an edge chamfer... ... Or maybe you are planning on using the textures to do that - softening the geometry? I´m Speaking only as an observer - I´d never get to detailing my own work like that - I always have a deadline that keeps me from things like that. Please post the WIPs! fabmedia
Well I just somewhat finished some additional detail and punched the poly count to about 67,000 (siding and roof stuff). So I colour coded my model now so I have a reference. These colours should remail somewhat the same throughout the texturing process. http://142.173.127.220/apt3d2.jpg Cheers! Arlen P.S. Thanks for the compliment. [ December 07, 2003, 10:33 PM: Message edited by: fabmedia ]

fabmedia
I thought that some of you might want to see samples of the textures....
demo38
fabmedia- Looking good. Modeling wise, (and this is being very picky) looking at the detail in the drawings, if you follow the "band" of vertical windows at either end, it looks like it should continue up above the windows to the roof. Also, the window trim seems too thick maybe... Depth to the building. And, the railing to the handicapped ramp, you show a different number of sections than in the drawings... Could have been a design change though. Rendering wise, it's looking good. The white trim is blowing out a bit right now, and I'm not sure about the light green for the windows. Maybe try giving more definition to the railing sections too; to make the fencing read more (unless they are glass or plexi?) Also, the bump seems a bit too heavy on the stucco surface, you make get some noise if you animate it. I know it's still in progress, just some picky observations on what's there now. Looking forward to the final, it's looking great.
fabmedia
Yeah I see what tou mean with the stucco bump. I'm still trying to finish this thing off and all of the textures are not complete yet. Hopefully this week though... thanks and cheers!
