Camby1298
Whenever I bring up my material manager on a scene/file, all the slots come up black (for both scanline and mr), I have to double click on the mat. slot in order for the material to load up. This happens with all my scenes. Is this a setting I accidently turned on or some kind of glitch within Max 8???? Thanks for any help.
MegaPixel
Whenever my material swatches go black, it's because I've switched renderers and the materials in the mat. manager are no longer compatable - so they appear black. Not sure whats going on in your case though.

BrianKitts
Under assign renderer, try clicking the "lock" icon next to the the material editor selection which makes it automatically whatever renderer you have selected for Production. Camby1298
Yea, for my assign renderer I have MR as my default with the MR materials locked. But even when I'm in the middle of a project, and I bring up my materials, the slots are still black. So if I need to quickly grab a material, I have to double click on all the squares in order to see the material. Please take a gander at the screen shot. so weird....
