padhia
also, there is a great variation in price between the different speeds of the core 2 duos, E6300 1.86GHz/1066MHz/2MB is $30 more, while at the other end of the spectrum E6700 2.66GHz/1066MHz/4MB is $750 more. is there really a noticeable difference between the 1.86, 2.13, 2.4, & 2.66 core 2 duo speeds? should i just pick one in the middle? Macer
I recommend getting the fastest that your budget can offer. If you try and save a few dollars you may end up regretting it. Also the E6600 and up have a 4mb cache, where as the lower spec ones only have a 2mb cache.
AJLynn
The speed of your render will be proportional to the speed in MHz, plus a bit of a bonus (but not much, for rendering anyway) for the 4MB cache that Marc mentioned. I went with the E6400 and built it myself so I could overclock the crap out of it (2.84GHz).
