W.I.P - Interior Render

Recommended Posts

Hi

I´m testing the Radiosity of Max 5.1, and i´d like some critics about this render. I´m trying to use only the sunlight on this scene. After many tests with the sunlight system, i didnt had a good result, so i´d decided to use only Sunlight and not check "exterior daylight" on "Logarithmic Exposure control". This is the result...

Welcome aboard, Wilson! Once again, it's nice to see more and more brazilians on CGA!

Your image looks good, but it's still too clean tho. Add some more elements to it such as furniture, decoration... Lighting looks good so far, but you know that more objects will change the ilumination effect, so you should add them and test it.

Regarding the radiosity method, ,how long did it take to render? And how about posting some of the settings so we can check it too?

I wasn't able to bring up the pick. Maybe you could use the upload utility and the put the image right in your post.

E eu tambem acho que e´ bom pra ver tantos brasileiros aqui.

(And I also think that it~s good to see so many Brazilians here.)

Speaking of which, I know that my portugeuse looks terrible but it's partly because I can't fiqure out how to use the accents with my keyboard. I have the portugeuse language installed and can change my keyboard so I CAN type with the proper accents (I think) but I just don't know where the accents are.

I´m back

Here´s the settings of the advanced lighting.

I would ask some help about the glass material, if you had noticed, it´s very self-iluminated, even if i didn´t set this parameter...i willl send these setting too..

thanks for the attention

Hi again, Wilson!

You're using a brightness over 100...I think it's not a good idea. It makes the solution look a bit unreal, imho. For example, check the sofa: it has a very strange bright spot on the left. Probably because of the super brightness. Lower it to 90 and play with the other settings. And there are some artifacts too.

When I said you should add more props, it's because they will definetly change the aspect of the final radiosity solution, so you should consider testing radiosity with them.

You may also try to "regather indirect illumination" and setting your units to metres instead of centimetres.

And yes, brightness at 110?? Way too much. I don't know what you want the glass to look like, but that specular level of 250 won't do you much good. Instead try to put the reflection map at 100 instead of 50...

Maybe you could post a link to the scene in this topic so people can play around with it in MAX5.1 (like me for instance)..

P.S. We could make it a unchallenge topic if you want, I could host your scene if you want..

cheers

Again, thank you for the comments

Rick, i set the brightness above 100 because when i set on the checkbox for exterior daylight, the scene turns too dark (shoudn´t i set "exterior daylight"?)

I think this is the cause for the "superilumination" of the glass.

Quizzy, i like your idea, it´ll be a good way for us to learn about MAX 5 illumination. Could you say how can i send the scene to you?

Hehe....no need to. I said that because they definetly have a strong influence on the radiosity solution. But if the design has few object, that's ok.

I think your image looks much better now. I'd only point out 2 minor things (and I guess you're ready):

1) the exterior looks over exposed. Maybe it's because you had to boost your light to a very high level, so it's "estourando", as we say in portuguese.

2) The small corridor on the right is a little too dark. Turn one of those ceilinng lamps on, just to see the bedroom door and maybe a couple of frames on the wall...

Cheers! (haven't I heard that somewhere else?)
