The_architect06
hello everyone.. am having my vray crashing during rendering (during prepass 1)..this never happened with me before ,only with this scene am working on , & i can't figure out why.. i have lots of materials with use interpolation checked on & also am using lots of displacement maps..could this be a reason for vray or max crashing ? ! The_architect06
ok..now...i rendered the scene with a 320*240 & it rendered fine,it seems it crashes with higher resolution like 1000*750 & up, am using 3.4 dual core with 2G ram anyone have encountered a similar issue ? ipxstudios
it probably is the displacement maps - you could try rendering them out separately then combining in photoshop.
lambros
I assume that you are using vray displacement, right?
The_architect06
I assume that you are using vray displacement, right? yes but am using it through material editor not as a modifier
njoco2
Same thing happens to me when I use V-ray displacement maps in large scenes. I have Athlon 3800+ with 2GB ram, and when the ram counter hits ~1.5GB while rendering max crashes. The way I get around this is rendering the scene without displacement maps, then render just displacement maps....the rest is Photoshop work. Mostly likely a ram issue which could be solved wiht ehs displacement tweaks. For now, try the memory to dynamic in the system tab, and see if that solves it. Will be slower, but should not crash.
