Claudio Branch
I recently used up all of my material slots in the Material Editor and then used the "Reset Materials" command within the Utilities tab. I believe it is supposed to clear the slots, but retain the textures as long as they are assigned to objects in the scene. I can get materials back into the editor with no problem, but for some reason they only show up in the rendering. All the objects have a light grey tone while viewing them in a viewport. What have I done ... any ideas? I normally do not use "Reset Materials", so perhaps I am missing something?
ipxstudios
use the eyedropper tool in the material editor. Sample all the elements in your model and they will appear in the material editor slots.
Claudio Branch
Yeah, the eyedropper gets me my texture back alright, but the material doesn't seem to show up on the object I assign it to in the viewport. I also checked the (show up in viewport?) button for each individual material, but nothing. ...I've never had this problem until I used the Reset Materials utility. The_architect06
when you reset your materials choose delete from material editor only..maybe your choosing (delete from scene & material editor) & thats why your getting grey materials.. Claudio Branch
The grey material is what I see in the viewport, prior to any rendering pass. Otherwise, the scene renders out fine with the correct mapped textures. It becomes problematic to assign textures and tile them without being able to see the textures!
