kid
Just something I'll work on over this summer break as a portfolio piece pretty much. I did this in greyscale as it's just a composition and tone study. It's from my head but I will be aiming for an old weather beaten Moorish villa, so I'll be spending a lot of time on texturing and maybe modelling some of the cracks and stuff. I'll probably open the gate too, to give some more depth by looking through into the garden...? C+C welcome
STRAT
Hi Kid this looks great so far, nice style u got there. how is it done? WACOM? free hand sketch? toon shading? PS filtering?
kid
Thanks. Sketched on bond paper with a 0.3 Pigma Micron (fancy Artline ) took about 15 minutes, the perspective was just eyed up (poorly) at a size ~15x10cm Here's just the lines: Then scribbled over in Photoshop with the WACOM for another 15 minutes with a hard edged brush. The main objective here was to figure out what to make light and dark to add interest to the composition. And this quickly showed me that opening the gate will add depth and reduce the black whole right in the middle of the image.

kid
just a quick colour sketch with the gate open. The walls will probably be a more red/terracotta colour, or white :|
bigcahunak
Very nice. I liked the previous sketch better. Waiting to see how you move on about this with the actual model. Good luck.
