dnaranjo
Hi everyone I reached a point in my work where I am happy with my lighting, texturing and modeling. However I feel like my projects can be improved a lot more by adding more details and some elements that would increase the realism on the final image. Here I am attaching an example of something I made. I would love to hear some tips on that, are there some triks that you use to add more realism? some post production techniques? Thank you
aaron-cds
Well, your first mistake is being happy with lighting, modeling and texturing. You can do better on all three accounts. It's good to be critical of your work and to also let others be critical of it. That's the only way to get better. lighting - it's a good start but it could be more dramatic. modeling - try to use filleted or chamfered edges. In real life, curbs don't have square edges. Model a small space behind the windows with some window treatments inside to make the glass look more transparent. texturing - the paver texture is too small and it tiles too much. Try using textures provided by arroway or find better textures. You also need to observe in life how everything looks. For example, in your rendering, the building on the left is casting a long shadow on the ground. The small trees in shade are also casting a slightly darker shadow on top of the building shadow. This is definately not realistic. Things like that are a step backwards. So, you just need to know how shade and shadows work in real life. good luck down the long long road to realism. diegofer_9
Totally agree with Aaron. More work can be done on those aspects. I remember seeing some interiors from you which were very good. Maybe it's your exterior views that need some more effort. Good luck.
dnaranjo
thank you very much for the tips. They are really of great help. I can see now what you mean, sometimes is hard to notice some things in your own work.
