Are Multiple Pivot Points Possible?

Does anyone out there know if an object can have more than one pivot point simultaneously in Max?

(The simplest example would be an individual bicycle chain link?)

I need to animate a unique multi axis-vehicle with multiple segments along a spline, but I am unsure of how to do this with each segment (object) only having one pivot point.

Any suggestions or relevant tutorial links appreciated!

Yeah, I suppose that is about the same functionality I am looking for.

I suppose I can constrain an object to a spline by its own pivot point and then use a pin (constraint?) to attach to the pivot point of a parent object?

It's obviously a mechanical animation, but the user reference examples leave much to desire at times!

Koper, thanks for the strong tips. I have done a few mechanical animations, but alway by inelegant brute force!

...sounds really interesting and I will take a look at the links that you have provided.

I have never even heard of "wire parameters" (but I find myself imagining an interface similiar to the Particle View for PF Source I suppose?).
