(wip) Alley

I would like to see more variation in the ground surface--raindrops hit the ground--and the papers collected along the edges. I know that is hard to do, but you started it, do it right.

The brick scale looks too small to me, maybe it isn't but that's how I see it, also the texture seems blurred compared to the sharpness of the rest of the textures. Why do the window frames project so much? That is very distracting.

The garage has lower contrast than the rest, which isn't necessarily bad, but it is a structure that shows a lot of depth and detail as you see into it, so I would expect matching contrast to the picture as a whole. Better to have lower contrast only at the back of the garage than the whole thing. Is it a flat map?

Finally, try moving the car to the other side of the view, showing just the back end rather than the front. Believe it or not, I think that will make a big difference in the mood of the picture. Seeing the front directs your mind towards the right along the street as you expect the car to go, thus spoiling the linear nature of an alley. By using a garage on the other side you invite the viewer to go down the alley, across the street and deep into the garage structure. But the car front spoils that. Show the back end leaving and you will not be pulled off track.

It sounds like I am taking the picture into the psyciatrist's office and asking about its childhood.
