sutaih
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum but... I am creating a time-lapse animation and I'm using a VRay light as my "sun" with an HDRI sky/environment. I know how to animate the light source, but not the HDRI. Is it possible to animate an HDRI? It's a very quick animation with only 90 frames or so. If not, where can I find animated skies that work well with VRay?
sutaih
To be more specific, what I need to find out is IF it's possible to animate the light values of an HDRI. Can this happen?
Ricardo Eloy
In theory, you can animate anything with spinners. But why not use a VRaySky as your BG? It will follow the sun and give you a really nice animated BG (not to mention you can use it in the VRay GI Environment and take advantage of the light changes). Sawyer
A while ago vlado posted a series of hdri stills taken every 1/2 hour (I think) all day. Then you place a new one in for each frame. That was the only time I have seen anything like that. You could create a gradient using vray color and animate that. That would be a bit easier. sutaih
Rick, that's a good point but I'm on a deadline and we're too deep with our lighting solution to jump into the VRay Sky. Question regarding the VRay Sky and BG: I've actually animated a time-lapse with it and it worked really well. But what I haven't figured out yet is how to get a sky in the scene and animate it with clouds, etc... I guess I just haven't played with it enough. But I would like to know the procedure for that because it'll be beneficial to all when creating really dynamic animations.
Christopher Nichols
The HDR sequence you are talking about that vlado posted is from Paul Debevecs site: http://gl.ict.usc.edu/skyprobes/ There is even a sequence you can download there which is 1k and is every 10 mins.
