nisus
Hi All, I'm using the new Arch+Design material for glass in max9, bUt when I render, the transparancy does not transfer to the alpha channel. I really needs this alpha channel, how can I achieve this in one pass? rgds, nisus
@win
You must look in the special pupose map and use cutout for the alfa channel. Greets, @win
nisus
for regular glass too? sounds strange but probable... anyway, i wonder why it is not included in the preset than... rgds niSus

nisus
Thinwall... Does that make any difference? nisus
@win
Do you use raytrace shadow or map shadow? If you use map shadow try to use raytrace shadow.

@win
i did the test and i see what your mening. Dit you use the same mapping in the transparancy collor? Dit helps by me. You can also use the shadow slot in the mental ray connection.
nisus
What do you mean by same mapping in the transparancy collor I mean, what mapping? Shadow shader could idd do it, but why do we need it... Arch+Design templates that don't work fine... damn! Like selling a car without wheels... (other from this, I'm VERY impressed by the MR implemantation in max9) rgds, nisus
@win
You have it about a alfa channel so i think you are using a bitmap. I am also verry happy with the new mr 3.5 an achi mat. It make it a lot easyer. If you are not using a bitmap can jou show me a preview rendering on what is going wrong?
nisus
Ok, it's pretty simple... I have a small scene with a balcony made out of glass and stainless steel (both arch+design presets). I have a daylight system and an MR Sky set up in my scene. When I render the image to a tif-file, the glass does not show up in the alpha of the final output image... and than the mystery began... rgds, nisUs
