martin walker
Ive imported a DWG file, after tidying it up in A-Cad. It only consists of around 10'000 lines, but its horrendously slow in the viewport. Does anyone know the reason for this ? cheers in advance

quizzy
lines (shapes, splines etc..) are allways slower as geometry in the viewport
Trevor Tizard
Is the geometry flattened - are there any z co-ordinates in the geometry?

jsf
You can speed thing up a lot if you try linking a modified .dwg file that only has a few layers in it. I usually make two copies of the (orginal dwg) file. In one file I delete everything, and in the second file I use the paste into original coordinates command to paste in one layer at a time. It takes a little setup but it is worth the increased speed in Max. It makes Max much easier to navigate.
