landrvr1
Having a bit of trouble with bump mapping. Using VRay 1.5, I cannot seem to get rid of the bizarre effect you see in the image. I'm using Adaptive QMC for AA; with settings at min 1, max 4. I've tweaked a number of settings, tried Adaptive sub for AA, but no change. Any ideas out there? Thanks

sterealkey
Are there any reflections on that material.... If yes, the try increasing the subdivision for that material only (under your reflections parameters) its defaulted at 8, push it up to about 20. I find this a common problem when combining low reflection glossiness values with detailed bump maps. If it still doesnt work then upload your file and I'll have a look for you... No reflections set. I've uploaded a zip file. You can grab that, as well as the materials and my VRay settings file, here: http://www.802studio.com/misc/bumpmapweirdness.zip

FlytE
Sorry if im sounding patronisingly obvious, but could it be something wrong with the geometry? twisted mesh, or maybe co-planar faces?

landrvr1
Sorry if im sounding patronisingly obvious, but could it be something wrong with the geometry? twisted mesh, or maybe co-planar faces? LOL, that's quite alright. Plenty of times when the most obvious solution/problem is right there in front of me. If I had a nickle.... I actually did a test and applied the same fabric material onto a plane. Same results. I'm sure it's something I'm not getting when using bumps with VRay. Rick, I'll try and post my overall settings when I get a moment. The link to the file works now, if you've got the time to investigate.
