question for all the grandmasters

hey guys I got a quick question. I heard a rumor about being able to render out still pictures and videos as elements or strips. This makes it so you can modify each piece and adjust it instead of rerendering. I'm guessing this is the render elements part of vray 1.5. Heres the thing I downloaded the 30 day trial to combustion but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this thing from vray 1.5 to show up in combustion as different pieces. Is there a good tutorial for this flying around? Or is there a quick fix cause I can not get this to work. Any insight would be appreciated. thanks!

and here is a good example as to why you would break up your render into elements

Rendering stripes is not the same as elements. You can split your image up into stripes using backburner and send it to different machines then backburner will reassemble the image for you at the end.

On the render dialogue common panel check net render to send it out across a network to your rendernodes and when the job assignment dialogue box appears check split scan lines and check use all servers.
