ericbarlow21
Hello Attached are two images so that you can understand my scene. I have just opened this scene in 3d Max 9 which was given to me (made in AutoCAD) and I have just begun to set up the GI and some materials and I noticed that the floor tiles are not receiving any light... there is a box representing a rug which is on the same Z value height as the floor and that object IS receiving light. Both objects have the same material. VRay Adv 1.5 RC3 is being used. Any ideas as to why the floor tiles are not showing up?
John Dollus
There are some gray splotches on the floor so it is receiving light from somewhere. Overall, the scene is very dark. What happens if you crank the lighting levels up?
ericbarlow21
I have tried turning up the lights so much so that I have gotten the scene nearly white but the floor remains black. I have checked the objects properties and vray properties and everything seems fine. The floor has the same default material as everything else in the scene. I do not know what could be different about this object or why it is not receiving light.
kippu
i think coincident faces ( 2 faces at same place) ,, check geometry of it or make a new floor above it and check .... best advice...delete that floor and make a new one
ericbarlow21
Thanks Kippu You were right.. I don't know why I didn't think to check that before but it did infact work. They had 2 floors ontop of eachother for some odd reason. Thanks again! Eric
