hereagain
I've noticed that in some files (usually those that are more complex), when I try to zoom in to particular places within the scene, the zoom slows then stops - as if something is restraining the zoom. I have noticed it in the perspective viewport, both in shaded and wireframe modes. Does anyone know why this happens? I have an O.K. video card (Nvidia 6800GT), but maybe not good enough. Thanks for the insight.
a_w
Are you zooming in with the scroll wheel? Even in an empty scene, zooming in with the scroll wheel slows then locks up my perspective view. I zoom extents to get out of it, then use the zoom tool to navigate the viewport. I'd be interested in finding an actual fix for this, because it's a problem I've noticed on multiple computers. hereagain
AW, Yes, I was referring to zooming with the scroll wheel. I was just working on a scene a few minutes ago where this was happening again. Had to use the Zoom tool instead, but even this seemed to be very touchy when I came close to objects. I often have to do the same thing you were talking about...zoom extents, arc rotate, then sometimes that seems to free the zoom up. All I know is its getting very annoying and i'd like to find a fix for it.
Ricardo Eloy
Since you are dealing with perspective, Max will limit how close you can get with zoom. Something to do with perspective distortion, I guess. Instead, you can turn your perspective viewport into user and zoom as much as you like, no limits.
