only3d
hi uall & merry xmas! ive been working with max for several years now and still havnt found a solution for this problem. in short im having trouble when working on small scale objects (especially when working in cm) the object is constantly clipped (even when vp clipping is off) and u cant get near it which makes it really hard 2 work on. its crucial that i work in real units in this case (its supposed to go to a lazer cut afterwords) so i cant upscale it and so on. it doesnt help if i use 'zoom extents' either so im left quite helpless. (all of this regards the 'prespective' window) so please if u have any ideas its really frustrating.. tnx and merry xmas again!
stephen gilbert
how about 're scale world units' to work on the model then rescasle world units to push it back down to it's proper size....just x 10 up then x10 back down. that would be accurate. Macer
A bit out of my depth here, but I remember reading something similar to this and I think that the solution was to ensure that the units were set small enough. If you are trying to work with fine details make sure that the units are smaller than what you are drawing, ie. creating a 2mm chamfer ensure that max units are set to mm not cm. Don't know if this is right, but it is worth giving it a try.
only3d
hi steven of course i could scale it up and then down again but 1st of all i think it could mess up my grid proprtions and 2nd its not supposed to b this way, y should i go thru that hassle?.. y shouldnt i b able to create a 4cm circle!?!? (try and see) to me this is a bug not less. unless theres some way to solve it in a reasonable fashion, otherwise its another big fuckup by "discreet" guys (im not blaming autodesk cuz its been this way since forever) please prove me otherwise il b glad to find out its my fault.. sterealkey
Usually when I encounter this I use the 'zoom extents' button, and then zoom back in and it solves it.... another solution could be to temporarily change your driver settings, I assume you're working on Direct 3D, try switching to OpenGL Just a thought... I know Open GL works slightly different in the viewport, so it might work.
BrianKitts
when you zoom in, don't use your scroll ball, use the magnifying glass in your viewport tools, does that make any difference?
