ruler
The new Gui have been changed so things not often changed are greyed out. The new presetsystem also makes it easier for beginners to pick a setting and fire away without scaring them off by alot of numbers.
Jure
Hey! I've finished first tutorial for 1.7. http://www.kraytracing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=411 Next I'll write how to make animation from this scene! cheers!
Mario Pende
Is this unbiased engine like Maxwell or not? Jure, are you satisfied with its GI speed/quality?
Jure
No it's biased renderer like Vray. It supports irradiance map, light caching and photon caching... As far as the speed goes I must say it's very fast, even faster than Vray from what I've tested!
Mario Pende
As far as the speed goes I must say it's very fast, even faster than Vray from what I've tested! Take me to your leader:p Jure, how does it work?! Does it uses Lw materials or you have like in Max Vray materials in this case Kray materials? As I can remember, Lw had a seriuos problem with its bad looking additive reflections. Are they fixed, or this is not a problem with Kray because it uses its own materials? Ajde, živio prijatelju:-)
Jure
It works with LW materials directly. KRay renders additive reflections correctly so that's no problem. It is planned for future versions of Kray to add it's own "KRay nodes" to extend LW's surfacing options with Kray specific - like SSS for example... rpompeu
I've seen some renders and I really liked, but I'd like to test it before I buy but I couldn't find a demo version... Does anybody know where I can get it? Thanks and merry x-mas!
Jure
Well demo version is currently not available for version 1.7. 1.7 is in open beta stage and is available to all new and old owners free of charge. Perhaps there will be a demo after 1.7 final is released but I don't know for sure... Anyways IMHO it's the bes GI solution for LW out there... Merry xmas and happy 2007 all! azman_821009
I am Lightwave user. I created modeling from Lightwave & render in Max (Vray) before & 'til now. Now i just found render engine for Lightwave - Kray. I'm still can't understand how to use it. If compare between Vray & Kray, Vray is very3 easy to use but Kray to complicated. I already read the manual & tutorial bout Kray. Who anybody know bout Kray? How i want to start? I try to render but Kray take more time than rendering in Lightwave. (sorry for my english) Thanx. Jure
I guess you tried very old demo of kray... It's completely different story with 1.7... You should check kray forum at http://www.kraytracing.com/forum for more info.
IC
Look at the Newtek Forums too. Jure and the other testers are very helpful with Kray issues.
