diegofer_9
Hi all, Yes, me again with another question. I eventually answer some other people's questions so bear with me please , I used the file link option to reference a CAD drawing in VIZ2007. I am trying to find a smart way to work with the walls, so I am selecting the layer in which the walls are and I apply an Extrude modifier. It works quite well except that is leaves the top of the extrusion open ( even if I select CAP START or CAP END). Is there anyway around this? I want to create an exonometric of the space without the ceiling, so having those walls empty is not so great. Thanks in case somebody has an answer! diegofer_9
Oh well, nevermind, I apologize for posting without further investigation. The workaround way I found is going to AutoCAD and making sure all those walls were closed polylines, then when I link them in VIZ I can apply an EDIT MESH modifier and extrude them. Still, if anyone has a better way and wants to share it with the world, I'd love to hear it. Thanks people!
a_w
If your wall is a closed polyline in AutoCAD, you don't need the Edit Mesh modifier. The Extrude modifier will give you a closed surface. Check the Tutorials in VIZ's Help menu. There's a section called Using AutoCAD Files, which talks about this sort of problem and how to fix it. Also helpful is episode 4 of Scott Onstott's video podcast, entitled "AutoCAD 3D Modeling": http://www.scottonstott.com/vodcast/
