Cookiepus
Hello! Some feedback on my render please guys. Please note: -The weird yellow tint on the corner of the house walls. -The window glass i have tweaked 312 times *@:~@(*. Thanks Cookiepus
sterealkey
I personally would add some reflection to the windows to reflect a bit of the garden & environment, this should help you lose the greyness. It also looks like theres some white or grey in your window material which should be black. Please tell me how you made the glass material and which render engine you use...maybe I can help you make it better. The yellow tint on the corner of the house, check your lighting, what is the colour of your skylight? what kind of lighting are you using?
Cookiepus
Thanks Peit I've put a dark sky into to the glass refection map channel..but it just not coming together for me. Im using Vray for rendering but the glass is not vray glass mat. Haven't had much luck with that either im afraid. Re:Lighting i have just one big direct target light for the sun and a couple of exclusive lights for the skydome and the rpc plants. Thanks for taking the time. sterealkey
Problems I can notice straight away is your specular colour is gray, this should be white, and your specular and glossiness values are low - make specular 150 and glossiness 40, this should already give you a better result. But I suggest rather make vray glass using the settings in this screenshot, note that fresnel reflection is switched on.
erickdt
http://www.vray.info/materialbeta.asp This website has some pre-programmed Vray materials including a glass material that is very easy to work with. Once downloaded drag the file into MAX and restart. They'll be there afterwards when you make a new material (click on where it says "standard", it will be on the list that pops up). I use these materials all the time and find that they work very well. The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to start MAX before you open any files with these materials in them otherwise MAX won't see the plugin and you'll have to redo those materials. Cookiepus
Erick I'm tring Egz glass now - thanks for the tip. Already Its an improvment. But seems like too much transparency - and not reflective enough. The apsorption slider just makes it get darker and darker. Any tips?
Sketchrender
Make a hdri material in the material slot, bump it up to 4 or higher, and drop it into the reflective slot in the enviromet settings in vray settings, and leave the standard vray glass material clear, and that should do the job. Usea clear sky hdri if you have one , it works better. phil

Sawyer
One thing I have done that usually gives pretty good results is to add a falloff map for reflection slot and change it to falloff type. Then I change the color swatch of the reflection to white. This way I have a manual control of how much reflections I have. If I want more I can reduce the % of the map.
