MarkC-UK
Evening all. I first started out with Max around 4 months ago (doing the odd hour here and there) with the scanline renderer and radiosity. Since then, and many tutorials/books later I've produced this using Max 6 and Mental Ray. I'd love some c+c to try and help improve my work. I'm really pleased with the render but maybe it could do with reducing some of the dark patches on the back wall......?? All comments and any pointers as to how to reduce the dark splotches are very welcome (Oh Yeah, Merry Christmas to all:) )
MarkC-UK
C'mon, someone must have some thoughts. I know it's not a particularly inspiring piece of work but it's taken me ages to get to this point!! Is it too dark, too light, too cold etc etc?? Are the colours too drab?? Should I bin the bright, overexposed windows and add an environment instead?? Any feedback gratefully received;)
manta
Ok, but you asked for it... Add some direct sunlight The lamp is way too small If the furnature is leather, then it needs some specularity The wood material is awful, the color is wrong and it needs some glossy reflections the floor material also needs some glossy reflections and displacement I'm not sure how to get rid of the blochyness, probably raise your GI settings hope that helps
MarkC-UK
Ouch:D Cheers Manta, exactly what I was looking for. With regards to the leather and wood they are standard arch materials that I haven't altered. I'll take another look and see what I can do. Any pointers on realistic leather would be handy (hint hint) Thanks for your time.
