jophus14
Here is a building that I have been working on for several hours and I'm looking for some advice on were to go from here. I want to stay away from people, birds and vehicles I still have to add shrubs and a road bitmap, but I would appreciate some advice and/or comments. Thanks. 3DIFX
Great start! Your glass texture looks excellent. The road texture looks much better. Keep working on your landscaping and grass texture. Low landscaping at the base of the building should help to soften the sharp edges a bit. Some of your tree shadows are going the wrong direction, and the tree shadows in the foreground look flat. If you are casting a shadow from a 2D image you may need to rotate the plane or take shadow casting off all together and create your shadows in post. All in all, keep up the good work! jophus14
Thanks for the comments. I see what you are saying about the foreground tree shadows. The shadows from the shrubs along the building are going in the right direction just that the last shrubs shadow on the right side falls into the shadow to the building therefore you cannot see it. I will work on the landscape some more as well. I'm using an AmbientLight lawn texture and a Vray displacement (3 inches tall) for the lawn, but it still looks like just a bitmap with noise applied, any suggestions on how to make my lawn look better? Thanks
3DIFX
Ok, now I understand what's going on with the tree shadows. A while back, I downloaded a great video tutorial on vray displacement for grass. Only problem is that I can't remember where I got if from. I tried to look this morning but still couldn't find it. If you do a search on the forums here for "vray grass displacement tutorials" loads of info should come up. From my initial observations, it appears that your grass texture may be too "tight". Try loosening up the uvw and see what happens. I usually wind up doing the grass in post because of rendering time. If you still can't find any useful information, pm me and I will zip up the video tutorial that I have and email it to you.
ipxstudios
Cast some leave shadows in the foreground and that will soften it up too,
Jason Matthews
WOW nice image. In conjunction with the comments just made, make sure the trees have the same saturation values. The trees in front of the building look a lot greener than others. I think the rendering is almost there. Time for the post production. Are you using Vray? Can you post your glass settings? lafiera
i like the render, the angle, the lightning, the texture etc... but your trees take away part of that, because their too flat, try using another maps or give those a little more volume with photoshop or some, so that they dont look like pictures next to a "high contrast" iluminated building
jophus14
Glass material: Diffuse: RGB 22,49,26 Reflect: RGB 37,37,37; Reflect Glossiness 1.0, Subdivs 24.........NO Fresnel Refract: RGB 97,97,97; Refract Glossiness 1.0, Subdivs 24 Fog Color: RGB 168,193,174; Fog Multipier: 0.5 I placed a falloff map in the Reflect Slot in the Maps rollout Falloff is 30% in the Reflect Slot, Fresnel for Falloff Type Let me know if it doesn't turn out right. Enjoy I am going to work on the trees and then I'll repost an updated image. Thanks for the help and comments.
