Tommy L
Hi everyone, hope you all had a good xmas. I have started using my presents (cam and tripod) to make an HDRI all of my own. I have done the photography (x40: 10 from each direction) and managed to create a very acceptable image. The problem i have is, I dont know how to stich/blend together the mirror-ball HDRI's to make a complete environment. Any good links/descriptions showing the post process would be great. The photography and theory etc is no problem, its just converting the ball images into environment shaped ones thats the problem. Many thanks, Tom. hparch
http://www.hdrshop.com/ If you use windows, this program from the originator of the HDRI format will convert any mirrored ball image into a spherical mapr, panoramic image, and many others. Version 1 is free (for non-commercial use) and Version 2 is available for purchase (for commercial use). If you are on a mac, I believe Photomatrix is the program to use for conversion from mirrored ball to a spherical map.
Tommy L
Thanks Howard, I have hdrshop and im using it to process the photos into hdr format. However, i dont know how to use it to stitch more than one view of mirrorball image (front and back for example) to create a complete environment. If i use one view only, there are big black areas from the 'back' of the ball. I have taken photos from the front, back and 2 sides. How do i get all that data into one spherical environment image?
