dazz_downunder
Hi everyone...trust your all well & enjoyed your Christmas day. It's been a while since I last posted here....a long time actually. Have been slowly learning at my own pace. Took Steve L's advise and read read read all I could about lighting, particually in regards to interior. I'm still finding it difficult to tweak here n there....I just cant seem to get it right. Here is a interior I'm working on at the moment mmmm about 6 hrs worth, pretty basic layout. Got my inspiration from one of rics images (hope you dont mind ric). Just wanting to better my interiors, would appreciate some feedback. Cheers all & a happy new year....I'm of on holidays for the next 5 days. Tommy L
HI, Youve got quite a few problems in this image, but if addressed, you can learn a lot from what youve done wrong in this one. Main problem is the image outside the window. Way too dark and does not match the light coming in. Other lighting issues apparent, like the hard shadow from the couch and the office chair. Have you got an omni in the middle of the room? Lose it; use bounced light from the window. Composition is a bit weak. The swimmer is the focus, not the architecture. We are looking at the back of a couch which excludes us from 'entering' the image. Couch looks too close to the screen (bit like being at the IMAX). Big expanse of empty floor. Whole thing is quite unwelcoming. Is this your design? If you can change it, bigger windows! ocean view an' all that stuff.... Materials tile alot. Noise map on chair is weird. Good luck! Jason Matthews
Same comments as above. If you are using Vray, I would try using the material override in the Vray global settings and change it to a light gray. Then work on the lighting. Get the image to say what you want it to say before adding materials. Then start with the largest materials first (walls, floor, ceiling) since they have the most effect on the scene. Adjust colors, mapping, and reflectance. Then finish with the small stuff. Please remove any extra lights you have in the scene. They wash everything out. Instead use the main sun light and extra fill lights in the windows.
