Sharing mental ray materials

What with so many people here learning mental ray, I thought it would be good to share some resources.

To get things started, here are the floor tiles I'm using in the lobby of a building we're designing, using only procedurals. They're meant to be mapped so they come out as 12" square tiles. I didn't end up using any AO, but that would be an option depending on the lighting.

This is great

are There any benchmark scenes for max9 mr 3.5 To play around with?

i found a japanese Tutorial at Treddi.com for MR but it is maya specific

just wondering if we could do somekind of unchallenge or just render

The same image and compare A&D mtls and lighting/FG & AO Techniques

i just upgraded To max9 from viz(since 3) so i have everything To learn

about mental ray

from what i am reading max9 mr 3.5 is substantially improved (different)

from The previous releases

here is one link To Treddi.com but maya mr i Think

http://www.treddi.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8436

look here for The max/3ds scene download

1.1 Light choosing and positioning

First of all you have to download the tutorial scene. It’s available in these formats:

.obj

.mb

.3ds

The direct link is:

http://www.treddi.com/upload/tutorial/dagon_mentalray/tut_jap_3ds.zip

but This is pre-max9 pre-mental ray 3.5, however

i guess everything all scenes are pre-max9 mr 3.5

maybe we can just start something To work with

i have been working over The max9 Interior Tutorial

which i dont Think is To scale either That or it is in metric

any Imperial unit scenes would be really great To work on

just an Idea

Thanks
