Using an image in 3ds

ok, so I know exactly what I want to do, just not how to do it. I'm trying to render a book. Yea its simple, but the cover has some 3d detail that I can't get by w/ just using a flat map. The book is the only subject, and I need detail. I have a sketch of what the cover should look like. Basically, it just has a border around it that is about 1/4" raised up from the surface of the book. The problem is getting the design into 3ds. See attached file for reference. Oh and don't bother asking about what is about - long story. Obviously there's more information on the attached image than needed, but it gives the detail I'm looking for. If anyone knows of any good way to do what I'm asking, please help!!! And, if someone knows that what I'm trying to do is virtualy impossible, also please let me know. Thanks all.

There's a few ways to have it empbossed,as to what i understand you wanted it to be. One is to put a bump map over the flat map,and second is to make a 3d of the embossed part. Its easy to make the 3d,just use spline to model the embossed part, and put extrude modifier on it.I hope it would be of some help.Ciao!:D
