stylEmon
Hey all, I am working on a stylized render. It was only supposed to be for massing, then transformed into a hand render. I guess they liked the direction the 3d was taking so here's what I ended up with. I looked at hand sketeches from another artist in the firm and tried to digitize his style. I will beef up the FG and shadow rays in a later render. What do you think?
ipxstudios
which renderer are you using. Looks good for a start. Try working with the sky for more realism. Work on materials in the foreground.
stylEmon
i use mental ray. thanks for the comments. I would like to work on the sky a little more, but not for realism, maybe more dream-like since the scene isnt realistic to begin with. I dont know why the flowers in the Foreground are rendering like that. The image looks nice in Maya its slef, but get fuzzy once rendered...maybe I should turn off the ambience?!..? here's an update PS working on the glow right now

Simply render and alpha map that seperates your scene and your enviroment - white/dark and mke good and proper use of it under photoshop. stylEmon
thanks for the tip. PS may be a better route for the sky.... as for the icky sticky, stay outta my dreams with all that! LOL

Horhe
Youre were wondering why you have such washed out textures in your render closer to the camera. My guess would be one of to: 1) Low resolution of libraries - resulting in a pixelating phenomena 2) Depth of field activated in your camera check it out
stylEmon
i decided to use DOF to cover up the blurry texture. The image I am using is very Hi-Res. Its 300ppi and 24" Wide! Might be the mapping techinique, or ambience used to avoid adding more lights.
Horhe
hmmm dunno about C4D im workin in max... you can always stick in people in ps - in my opinion thats far much better cause you get to decide where to put them once you see the final result from you rendering software... its easier to make a better composition out of an image. In max there is a blur texture option under the bitmap paraeters in the material slot - maybe you got one of those unde cinema 4d? and its crancked up way toooo high?? vizwhiz
Nick if you need some local sky shots here are a few low-res i have The original hi-res at 3.5 mbs or so i live in Mesa and These were all Taken in The last 2 weeks or so i have almost a 100 skys photos by now i could send anything To you by PM email ** i would separate out The landscape and add Those later in PS This will cut down on your rendering Time of The actual building yes it is more work initially To put The landscape in individually but it allows you better options (i Think) later if anything changes just my opinion, i have done This both ways (with landscrape rendered inside of viz, Too) you could place The Trees inside of The project 'invisibly' They would still cast shadows but not show up on The image and Then locate Them into The image in Postmortem Thanks Randy
stylEmon
wow, thanks for the skies. I have a sky library somewhere, just havent dug it up in a couple months. I should get on that. I will definetly use those tho Randy. if you got others, you can send to styl_E_mon@yahoo.com As for the entorage in PS, i think what i may do next time (especially in a realistic render) is render out everything in passes, then composite in PS. Like you said, I'd have freedom to adjust shadows, saturation and what not. I actually made a pass with just the people and plants but it was intended as an alpha only, so the lighting was crap... more time next project I hope!
