Vray and Background

Hey, Hey, Hey !!

I have this test scene created and I have added background so I can see it in the viewport adjust the position and render it, it works fine, however

objects outside the window as torus knot and the sphere turns transparent,

showing through the background ??? the objects outside have vray mtl applied to them with no opacity or refraction.

How can I go about this situation.

Thanks.

from what i see its not the sphere and the torus thats transparent - its the window glass thats reflecting te background in somewhat of a wierd matter... i suggest making two renders - the first as you did now - and the second try to make an alpha mask for the image - if you set back to default scanline and set enviroment material black and set all of the enteties in the scene 100 illumination white and render it - then you can subtract te background under photoshop by masking and insert the background there - that would be even better because you would retain more control with the possibility of adjusting curves saturation etc...

Hey Horhe and Tim,

Yes I have the Vray Environment Skylight checked to overwrite max's,

so this is not the case,

Now the large window or opening has a glass with fresnell reflection,

the glass it is a box as oppose to plane, now the window on the right has no glass at all and the effect on that sphere outside the window is the same as

looking at the torus knot through the glass.

After reading your replies I thought that it is the fresnel reflection on the back side of my glass interfering with the torus knot, but if that was the case

whats up with the sphere outside on the right where there is no glass at all.

If someone would be interested I would like to post the scene for

someone to take a look at it.

I just ran another test where I took the reflection out of the glass material,

and have still the same glitch.

Cheers !

Hey Horhe,

Here is the scene,

Hope you can solve my misery / mistery :p

The file appears as PDF as I can not attach file larger than 960 kb in a zip format, just rename the file extension to zip, it's max's 8 version.

For some reason you are allowed here to attach PDF of almost 2 Mb LOL,

I hate PDF's

Thanks,

Andrew

The problem of the two object and their trancparency persists as it seem only with QMC. Render it with Irradience map for primary instead.

This strange phenoma happens probably because qmc calculates the gi in a different manner than, making the image and the materials behave this way.

With Irr its fine. Although qmc + lc is the most accurate way of rendering irr and lc is fastest and second best in my opinion.

Ps. You do not have to input the image in the max enviroment slot and in the vray overide enviroment slot. One slot is enough. And increasing the value in the vray enviroment overide slot (as you did from one to 20) does not do anything. That value affects only colors, not images.

Hey Horhe,

Thanks for testing that file,

Yeah I thought it was kind of strange, I mean the transparency of the objects outside the strcture paramiter, I thought it had something to do with display driver but I guess not, I will check this out today again with IRR Map as primary.

Thanks, and Cheers !
