archicad coloured plan

Hi there, can anyone help me please as i am new 2 archicad and have only been using it for a few months now. I want to produce a coloured rendered plan using the cutaway tool as it would look really affective as i have seen this done many times. However when i carry this out the light is jus to bright. someone told me to go to photorendering settings, lightworks effects> and then alter the light sources e.g. sun, ambient, camera and lamps.

Does anyone know of a good way to set these settings up to carry out this render or does anyone know if there is another way. I have tried to alter them and although it does make a difference i am still not that great at altering and playing with the rendering settings. can someone please help me. thank you. please
