Devin Johnston
I've been on the Final Render and Maxwell train for quite a while and I think I'm ready to jump into Vray, I'm hoping it's kind of like Final Render so the learning curve won't be so bad. Can you guy's recommend any good (free) Vray tutorials that deal with Architectural setups (interior & exterior) instead of objects?

Ernest Burden III
I would think they are very similar. There's a guy who can be found on CGtalk, Cebas and the FryRender forums who uses both for arch-vis. He would be a good one to ask. I'll see what he says. He is the person behind the vray-for-Cinema project, which I think will have a release fairly soon. He also is a former Maxwellian.
Devin Johnston
Thanks Ernest.
AJLynn
Having used both, they are so similar I started using FR2 after reading about the settings for maybe 5 minutes. I'd recommend Chris's DVDs, tell you that you'll never go wrong with Irradiance Map for primary and QMC secondary for exteriors or Light Cache for interiors, and you'll almost always go wrong with photon map GI, and probably the most difficult parts will be getting the material settings just right and optimizing for speed. martin walker
Chris Nichols (whose on this forum) has a couple of DVDs out which are very helpful, and Brian from 3DAS recently posted an excellent paper entitled "critical v-ray settings" which is a must read. Other than that, its a case of getting your hands dirty and having fun...

Msamir
Also Wouter Wynen tutorials on vismasters.com are very helpful, actually all the tutorials concerning V-Ray on vismasters are helpful and they are free too.

rivoli
here's a link to the vray help/documentation page. some very good examples and tutorials at the bottom of the page: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R1/ and here's another place you may want to have a look at: http://www.vray.info/ as already suggested by others, the chaos forums are arguably the best place to find info/tutorials/examples and anything one may need to know about vray.
