M_Jaco
Hi I am trying to render my image to 3400x2200 with vray 1.50 but it crashes as soon as it gets to "preparing global light manager" I’m using VIZ2006 on a Xeon Dual 2.40GHz, 2GB Ram See attachments for the vray settings, Please help me Thanks
sterealkey
Hi Moshe, I know other people have had similar problems. Dont know how they fixed it. Please search the forum, I think it was about a month ago or so, you might find everything you need to know in that thread.
Arnold Sher
okay, couple of things you can do... 1. Under customize, go to preferences then rendering then bitmap pager and tick the "on" button. What it does is slows down your rendering time, whicj is am sure what you do not want to hear, however it also sorts out not enough of ram issues and helps to render out a file of a bigger size. 2. if that did not work chances are that one of your components is corrupt and vray is not liking it. I would suggest to start to hide everything but one component and render it and then keep on adding one by one till it crashes that will usually point to the component than needs to be redrawn or reimported. Either way you will know where the problem is... Tediuos work but works most of the time... Hopefully that should do it... Good luck...
Koper
its a bug in max9 and everyone is searching for the solution, the problem is that the verteces aren't transforming when starting to render, go the the chaos website to find out more
manta
He's not using Max9...
Koper
yeah, true, but it's also a vray, max 8 thing and so on. it's got to do with transforming the verteces when rendering.
M_Jaco
Thanks all Sterealkey, I did search the forum, I found, that i should use Dynamic under system in the vray parameters, but the rendering time for that is 20 hours, totally unacceptable...... Arnold, 1) Exactly I don’t want to here about long rendering times, btw, that’s one of the main factors I switched to vray 2) I was able to render at 1200 pixels, if an object was corrupted wouldn’t it crash at the 1200 as well? Koper, I’ll post in the chaos forum and try to find info on that
Devin Johnston
This concerns me since I'm about to start using Vray, if I can't render high rez then what's the point. Are they working on a patch for it?
Sawyer
I haven't had any problems with any vray related crashes at any resolution (only when I have used up my ram).
Sawyer
It does say that you have raytrace maps in use. First thing is to remove those maps.
M_Jaco
I did remove the raytrace materials, and it crashed again (see attachment)
Tim Saunders
I know other people have had similar problems. Dont know how they fixed it. We didn't. This concerns me since I'm about to start using Vray, if I can't render high rez then what's the point. Are they working on a patch for it? I have to say, unless something gets worked out soon, don't buy a new renderer, just get the new MAX and use mental ray. If I were selecting a new renderer right now, I would for sure go with mental ray. With the new features that came out last year, and the presets, It's like Vray was a year ago for me. This last release has been giving me nothing but crap with bitmap errors, and high resolution crashes. Perhaps I'm being a bit too frank, but I am about half way down the road to switching renderers because of the issues. The new materials are Vray's only saving grace keeping me from switching (well, that and the time I have invested in learning).
