aaron-cds
This was something I was messing around with. It's a paper model look using vraydirt and vraytoon. The rendering settings are simple. Use the environment color for the light and render with gi. A simple IM / QMC setting will do the trick. The max 9 file is attached.
Ernest Burden III
This was something I was messing around with. It's a paper model look using vraydirt and vraytoon. Fantastic! I love it. I had experimented with that look with rendering software back in the old days (early 90's I guess), but it didn't look all that great. Yours does. Bravo! EDIT--mid 90's. Who am I kidding? geardaddy1
Hey Aaron - Just had a client ask for this look. However I am still using Max 8. It looks like your max 8 link is gone....do you still have it?
aaron-cds
I never had a max 8 version. You'll have to follow the settings in the 3rd post above that I made for people with earlier versions.

Chad Warner
Aaron- I just might get to use this technique for an animation.... Does that mean I'll have to pay you royalties?

Chad Warner
If I get the job, I'll definitely post the clip. It's going to be played on 4 1920x1080 monitors, so rendering size is 4320x1080! should be interesting. Good thing is the test renders Iv'e done so far render pretty quick. jadhav333
HI Chad.. The mesh appears to be a highly detailed model. I havent checked the max file as i donot have max9 yet. Chad Warner
I'm not using the model, just the technique.
Chad Warner
Well, It looks like the animation is a no go, but here's a test image that I rendered just to see what it would look like. This is an existing model from another project. -Chad
