Hi I am Meenu an Architect i am already using so many softwares like 3d max , autocad, sketchup etc but now i want to use revit pls suggest me how can i use it.

Start from why you want to use Revit :) Revit is BIM software which needs different orientation from the rest you mentioned. Take a course from good training centre, refer help files etc...

As Bhanu said , this is a BIM software. IMHO I do not think there is a really

good training centre here in India to teach you Revit inside out. The teaching

staff at the training centres - it is a great pity - they themselves are not thorough enough in the subject. They simply give you an introduction to Revit. They tend to teach you this Revit as more of a modelling and rendering

software. The concept of BIM is still not really sinking here in India. (again IMHO). I kept on trying to teach myself from a trial version through the help etc. But it was too tiresome self learning (for me).

So please ask yourself - Why you want learn Revit.

Greetings

PRSS

FWIW I've spent many hours looking for information on Revit online and most of the best information is contained in blogs by users.

Most of these blogs are listed in several places, this page includes most of the best bloggers, scroll down on the right of page:

http://www.revitinside.com/

South African Revit resources site (duplicates some of the above site links):

http://www.cadplan.co.za/revit_resources.html

A good tips site is

http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/default.asp?tab=2&CAD=Revit

A good video tutorial site for Revit - some are free - is

http://www.dgcad.com/

The tutorials included with the actual 9.1 Demo version are very good btw.

The Autodesk discussion forums are good for finding out practical issues

http://discussion.autodesk.com/forum.jspa?forumID=133

Some free overview videos from a UK Autodesk reseller:

http://212.227.213.159/revit/

recent Cadalyst article on small firms implementing Revit/BIM

http://aec.cadalyst.com/aec/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=389886

Autodesk document on working without Layers in Revit

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=3190965

It is noticeable here in the UK that of the few remaining Autodesk resellers most are still promoting courses in ADT and not doing as much on Revit apart from a low-cost Revit upgrade from Autocad LT that was running until last week.

The trouble with Revit, as with all the 3D cad products (I currently use Nemetschek Allplan with Cinema 4D) is that you do need proper training to give you a good grounding, but even if that is available, you need to know advanced stuff to be able to model real buildings.

You will get more out of any training if you work through the Revit 9.1 supplied tutorials first - they are good.

I haven't made my mind up yet, I'm awaiting an Archicad demo DVD any day... which is how I found this thread :)

best of luck,

William
