Nils Norgren
In max 9 they have implemented more further a system of project directories (which is how Maya works) you can configure your paths per project and specify paths based on a project, theoretically you could have autobacks for each project, and you could point it locally or to a network drive. To find the feature go to Customize:Configure User Paths, be mindful however, if you specify a "Project" it will create the files it thinks you need, (you probably don't) but what is useful is that it creates a .mxp file which has the paths hardcoded, they can be relative or absolute, Imagine always going to save and you are already in the projects "scenes" directory, or render an be in you preferred render output location. It is a very powerful concept but can get out of hand quickly if not considered carefully before you start to use it. Hope this helps -Nils
