Arnold Grove
I posted this question here and the reply was to talk to Evermotion. So I posted there. 61 views and no replies, usually the case there....mmmmmm..... If its been covered Im sorry. Just trying to fins the answer which is probly a real simple one: I just purchased an Archinteriors volume to study the Vray settings. Without changing any settings, I popped off a few renders. The first time, it took over 12 hours to render. Second try it took 10 hours, at a LOW rez, 320x240..it still took 10 hours,,,and it rendered BLACK! 3rd try I stopped it after 14 hours, when the render info said i had a total render time of 52 hours! HOWEVER, I did get a message telling me that it was created with an older version of V Ray,,,and I should increase the rQMC noise threthhold value to get similar render times. I thought I did this correctly but i guess not. Perhaps my numbers are wrong because Im still getting long render times. Im going over the VRay help page, trying to study each setting..its slowing going but I need a push. Since Im using the latest version, what can I do to cut down the render times? My computer is a Dell dl core 2.13 w/ 2 gigs or ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks a bunch!
Thablanch
in the 1.5 releases the rQMC sampler settings are revised. Go to - Render - Renderer - V-ray: rQMC Sampler rollout the noise threshold NEW default is 0.01 the old default was 0.005 so put the value to 0.01 to start, and by increasing this value, you will get faster render times, but loose quality
ApeiNe
Try to put a standrad Vray material to all the scene (using override material) and render again. And tell us what the result
Arnold Grove
Thanks Alain, I actually WAS right on that one. I figured that had to be factor. As I said Im reading each page at a time and I am pretty good at learning that way but it's still new settings (not new to 3d) My setting was on 0.01 so Im in the right direction so Ill try to increase the value. And I will aslo change the material ApeiNe. Ill post result asap. thanks!
