Suggested settings for Broadcast

I've been experimenting with the various image sampling setting for broadcast. I'm rendering a plasma TV's, phones & computers.

I bought some nice Evermotion Max VRay models (as suggested by Brian Smith in his book...the best money I ever spent on a book)

I'm thrilled about this set up, Max 9 and VRay 1.5. jumping right from LW7. My goal is architectural but I have to pay the bills with commercials for now.

I mentioned in another thread I'm adept at learning from manuals, but I would appreciate a quick shove.

Could some kind soul suggest their settings for rendering these types of objects for TV. What can I do to speed up rendering as fast as possible and still have photorealistic quality as possible. I know there is a line you have to find somewhere in the middle.

Im learning this new setup on the fly, while working on a project no less! Nothing like learning on your dealine time. :(

thanks! Arnold

Here is a page that will help you out.

The article on critical vray settings will help you tweek your detail and rendering speeds. 3DAS and Vismasters is also doing a live online series of this as well, which I think will be very helpful.

There are some great tutorials at

If you have any time for shipping order Chris Nichols DVDs on interior and exterior rendering available at the Vsimasters shop and at the Gnomon web site.

For rendering to TV, I reccomend that you be carefull with your colors. The Material editor has an icon to prview what your colors will look like on NTSC color. Do a search in your 3DS max Reference under your help menu for Video Color Check.

Good Luck!
