chalk
Hi all, First post in anywhere other than the Cinema 4D Forum, having a look down the list of WIP's here with some awesome renders with titles like "First ever try with Vray" makes me wonder if i picked the wrong programme - but anyway ive seen some amazing stuff with C4D recently and this project is me trying to figure out lighting and texturing. (in order - new1 first new3.jpg last) I've had multiple tries at interiors b4 but i think the lighting setup in this one is starting to make more sense now, at least i think the results are getting better anyway Be interested to hear what the Vray camp think. No postwork yet and rendered out at medium quality.
AJLynn
Actually, I like this a lot - I think it shows a more advanced technical understanding than most of the "My First Vray" renders I see. My suggestions would be to get a bit more going on in there and move the floor pattern mapping to line it up with the wall. I think it could stand a bit more detail also. chalk
Hi and thanks for the reply Yeah it could definatly do with a lot more detail, and im not even sure i like the floor at the mo so see how it goes. Till next time
Frosty
Good catch on the VCT AJ. I would sugest changing that map entirely - its pretty awful. Add some wood to warm up the sapce and as AJ said, get mor detail in there. SOme volumetric light through the window might be a nice touch. chalk
Hey all, Been updating and playing with this scene. Theres still a few things wrong but im pretty pleased with this image so far.
AJLynn
That's coming along very nicely. Are you using Stochastic GI? That gives great results, but noisy - for the final you're going to need more samples.
chalk
Na no stochastic but area lights with area shadows which i think are giving the grainy look. i'll have to tweak a few settings and see what happens with that one. think is a shadow setting though........ Frosty
Its coming along nicely. It has a blue/green mediterrainian feel to it. I tend to keep my renders in a warmer yellow-red feel but maybe thats just preference.

Ernest Burden III
You really should not have your horizon at the exact height of the major horizontal lines of the roof break and the mullions. It cuts your picture in half. The TV is for use while having dinner? A single man's home, I take it? That rug takes over your image, I would suggest something very subtle, close to the floor color (which is still too 'hot') perhaps a lighter shade than the floor instead of darker. Try it, see what you think.
chalk
To be honest i didnt really give huge amounts of thought to the layout of the room really, just kinda threw a bunch of stuff in as i was mainly trying to work on my lighting skills I'll give you recommendations a shot though. You mean the horizon is to high? now that i look at it i think i see what your saying, it does line up with the window frames AND the top of the dwarf walls. Personally im not seeing the 'hotness' in the floor though. Cheers Chalk
