Macpod
Just had another browse at the autodesk site. they listed the x1600 series under radeon and not ati. weird. anyways. it seems autodesk sees the x1600 series as a recommanded card! which is actually better than most quadros! Is this bullshit or is there something to it. would a x1600XT be better than a 7600GT for programs such as acad 2007? i know the 7600gt easily outclasses the x1600XT in games but im willing to sacrifice a few FPS to less artifacts and less lag in acad 2007. also, is the x1600xt radically different to the x1600, thereby making it shit for acad and open gl? what about 1650xt? its cheap! PS. i dont think ill have the balls to do softmods.
AJLynn
This is crap. The whole certified card thing is just corporate BS - unless you're in a large corporation that requires it, don't even look at that list.
Macpod
the cost of FX1500 equals that of my living expenses for the whole semester. ok, not quite but you get my drift. Anyway. Looks like ill be getting a 7900GS from gigabyte with the Zalman cooler. If i ever need to overclock it in the future, the cooler is already installed. I've heard it can be easily overclocked to beat a 7900GT and approach that of a 7950GT. cost about 1/4 of a FX1500.
