I've done this two ways. Surrounding the scene with a sphere with flipped normals and mapping the HDR texture to it will do it. You'll get good lighting but it won't be fast. You can also put the HDR in the environment slot in FR2 but rely on the sky system for lighting, which is much faster.

thx for the fast reply

did u use FR-Image or aqmc in combo with the textured sphere.i need to output quite a huge render, but would take the pain to wait as long as the quality is better than going with the environment approach.

did u use a frmaterial (standart with bitmap node) or a c4d mat for the sphere?lots of questions.....thx for any answer....

I don't remember exactly how I set up the sphere and I don't have that computer anymore - it was just testing so I probably don't have the scene anymore. You'll have to mess around a bit. I think a Cinema material with the HDR in the Luminance slot would work, or maybe an fR mat standard. By "not fast" I mean that it was about 10 hours for a pretty simple scene (a ground plan and a few objects) on an Athlon64-3000+ 1GB at something like 2000x1500. It was with AQMC but it should work with fR-Image too. This was with the first release of fR2 and I hear they've made improvements to HDR handling, so if I get some time I'll try again.
