spanish pants
hey all, here is a work in progress. it´s rough and needs some gardening work and a few details but i would appreciate any comments you might have. regards
sterealkey
Wow really nice work. Really beautiful. Like you say, maybe some gardening. Stick a coupla plants in those pots on the stoep. I must say your lawnmower does a really nice job. Good work Resolution of the picture is a bit low to spot any possible tiling or so.
martin walker
very nice Celso, pool water is great I'd lose the DOF blurring...it very rarely works, and try and introduce some variation to the grass....looks too uniform.
neko
agreed - very nice work, but the depth of field is unnecessary.
FlytE
yeah looks a little hazy to me, and the grass is very consistant. ONe mor thing that stands out for me is the car, it looks less like carpaint and more like water or something. However overall I like the image. nice one
spanish pants
Thanks for the advice all. The DOF is dead, you´re right, it looked like poo. The grass is a Vray displacement, i´m still learning vray, so i´ll keep plugging away at it until i have something more natural. As you can see i´ve added some landscaping and a few more details and while i´m currently happy with it i know that when i wake up in the morning that will have changed. Let´s see what churros and coffee bring. Thanks again all.
Justin Hunt
Much better, just desaturate the grass, it's too acid green JHV

Aaron2004
Are you using VRAY sun or a direction light for your lighting?
spanish pants
Hi Aaron, i´m using Vray with a direct light, why do you ask? The more i look at this rendering the less pleased i am with it. I need to go back a tweak the lighting a little, far too much blue in the shadows. Aaron2004
I ask just mainly for my own curiosity...people are always praising VRAY sun, but the best work that I've seen (yours included) is always usually done by a direct light.
spanish pants
Before i even knew what vray was, i used skylights in conjunction with directs and the scanline renderer. These apartments were one of the first things i did with Max after i switched from XSI, using the skylight and direct lights. I haven´t yet used the vray sun, but i´m sure i´ll get around to it. missoni
I personally like vray sun. I cannot state however that it gives superb results, since as far as i know, most professionals do really use direct lights. I have never managed to set the direct light parameters correct so that it gave nice and realistic results, therefore using vraysun is very effecient in my situation.
