Hi,

I thought I would update you lot on what project I'm doing now. Its a city in 3D for an interactive virtual reality presentation. At the end it may have the same interactivity as an FPS game.... Yes, some surroundings in FPS's could be called "Architecture"

well to give you an idea:

The red is the total area I have to do (not all with textures.

The blue is the visual from above.

I don't want to exceed above 500.000 polys

The engine will propably be Virtools, Wolf was the guy who made his own engine.. ;)

Excellent!!! I was looking for these kind of links.. The only but is: Not enough geometry, I am going to make my model with 500.000 polygons. But I will be using camera clipping. Also I am going to use a bit higher resolution textures.

but don't get me wrong... excellent link!! (It could be used as referende material for my client!) Also it gives me a better idea of the cababilities of cult3D..

Thanks nisus...

Anyone have more links to these kind of projects/VR environments??

cheers..

quizzy, the guys at DXNet in Toronto created a virtual Toronto for the olympics bid a few years back. I got a sneak peak at it while they were building it, but I dont know how it turned out. They were using Performer on SGI gear (a ginormous Onyx super computer).

hey Evert,

The lights are done in quest3d, and for the grass, maybe in my next VR-project, or at a later stage after the deadline. It is possible to overlay another grass texture in quest3d to make the tiling invisible.. but for now, i just hope i'll make my deadline..
